Institution: TV Channels (ITV)



ITV is a public TV channel that presents many programmes to its wide audience who are young teenagers to adults. The average, lower middle class workers, both male and female are the people who are most likely to view the entertainment presented to them on ITV as they are the institutions main target audience.
ITV shows a variety of programmes from chat shows such as ‘The Jonathon Ross Show’ to soaps such as ‘Coronation Street’. These family programmes are the type of programmes shown on ITV as it is a low brow channel.
The institution is largely successful in meeting their aims as the main aims of ITV are, to appeal to the youth, to gain advertising revenue, to increase viewing figures, and to entertain their target audience.
