A high profile premier is used to launch the film, where there is a large amount of media coverage.
The UK has 3,500 cinemas to view films on; prior to the films being presented the distributors supply prints of the film to the cinemas/exhibitors.
The exhibitors take a share of the box office and the distributors take a share of their marketing costs.
After the distributors are paid, the financier's can then recover their investments.
